Before you move to Avoori
The reason that might affect your ranking in the first place is none other than your URL structure changes. Your backlinks usually all redirect to your old URLs that might be structured differently than your new ones which mean visitors might end up on 404 error pages instead of your website. When URLs structures change suddenly and when your backlinks are affected, your rank will be affected as well.
That is why before moving your website to another platform, you first must prepare to minimize damage as much as possible. You need to take a look at your old website while it’s still online and create a catalog for your URL structure in a spreadsheet. The spreadsheet will be your go-to for your new website in order to see how your new URLs are different and for which pages or posts you need to create 301 redirects for.
Keep your domain name
If you want to keep your rank on search engines then you need to preserve your domain name. If your domain name is hosted by another provider, then we highly recommend you transfer your domain name to Avoori so you can manage everything on our platform, but if that’s not possible, then you can connect it to your Avoori website.

If your old URL for your contact us page is mydomain.com/contact, then make sure your new URL for your contact page on Avoori is mydomain.com/contact as well.

Use 301 redirects
After switching platforms, it’s more than normal to have some changes happening to your URL so it’s completely normal to find out that your new URLs don’t match your old ones. Avoori’s structure is different than other website builders and CMS hence the difference you’ll come across.
In order to address this issue, you need to create 301 redirects for the URLs that are now changed in order for visitors to be redirected to the right page and not end up on a 404-error page. 301 redirects will redirect visitors without them knowing they’re redirected.
Create a custom 404 page
404 pages are an important part of your website that you need to consider when moving platforms. 404 pages are the error pages that appear to visitors when they enter a non-existent URL, an incorrect one, or one that no longer exists.
