Increasing your site’s visibility to search engines

Use search tools to maintain updates

If you’ve made changes to your website recently and wonder why search engines are still not picking them up, then you should know that search engines don’t quickly notice updates. If you made changes to your website and want them to be indexed, then you’ve got two different solutions:

  • Recreate your sitemap using Avoori so it can have all the latest changes
  • Use search engine’s tools like GSC or BWT to request your content indexed manually 

Customize page and site titles

When creating a website, the first time, it can be hard to find the right practices to follow, but a good general rule of thumb is to prioritize your website’s titles.

The titles include anything from your website’s title to your blog post’s headings. These titles are what search engines use to pick up content, to understand what your website is about, and to understand the overall structure.

Your SEO title and your navigation title are two very different things but they both need to mean the same thing. Your navigation title is what appears on your menu and it’s usually short and straight to the point like “blog” “home” and so on. Your SEO title on the other hand is what appears on search engines and on browser tabs and it’s usually longer and has a keyword in it. Your SEO title needs to put forward what you do in a very short way without forgetting to include your keyword so you can rank better.

Structure content with headings

When writing your content, you need to keep in mind that headings are very important. They make your content look organized and give it a neat look that makes it easy to navigate and more enjoyable to read.

Not only is good for humans, but it’s also good for bots as search engine bots can detect the major theme and industry of your website through your headings. When using headings, make sure to highlight the most important ones and use H2 for them, and then use the others in a descending order to organize your content better.

Add alt text to images
