If you have been customizing your website through the Theme Customizer, the footer is usually the last thing one cares about. So it’s commendable if you have already gone through the other customizations and have taken your time to perfect your site.
Some businesses keep the footer to its minimum whereas a few solely focus at the footer for detailed navigation. It all depends upon the type and focus of your business, even at the characters of your target audience.
Whatever the case may be, you can usually do a few tweaks to the footer copyright to make it look perfect. Let’s understand about the configurations we have available for the footer copyright section.
Navigate to your website admin, browse to Appearance > Customize > Typography> Footer Copyright.
Setting the Fonts for the Footer Copyright
You usually don’t need fancy fonts for the footer copyright. But you can browse through the list to choose the ones that seem most relevant.
Just click over the drop-down menu underneath the “Font Family” in Footer Copyright panel and choose from the variety of fonts available for you.
You can preview the footer in the theme customizer as you choose the fonts to see what looks best and reflects as a copyright message too. In most cases, you don’t need anything fancy, just the standard fonts would do.
Set the Font Weights for Footer Copyright
The font weight property is what will make the Sidebar Widget Heading to look bolder or thinner. Font weight is an HTML property that accepts numbers, usually from 100 to 900 with an increment of 100 in between each, 100 being thinnest and 900 being the boldest.
Following are the available font-weight options you get:
Please know that not every font supports each of these font weights. So just in case if you choose a font weight for a font that doesn’t seem to be changing in the theme customizer. You don’t need to worry and try another.
Set the Font Style for Footer Copyright
You can make your footer copyright italic or just use the regular style.
Just click over the drop-down right beneath the “Font Style” label in Footer Copyright panel and choose your desired setting.
To Set the Text Transform Property for Footer Copyright
Text-transform is an HTML property that lets you transform your text in the following way
- It capitalizes the first letter of each word.
- It converts all the letters to lowercase
- It converts all the letters to uppercase
- It doesn’t do anything, keeps your text as it is just the way you have written it.
You can choose any of these four options by clicking over the drop-down underneath “Text Transform” in Footer Copyright panel.
Change the Font Size for Footer Copyright
You can easily use the slider under the “Font Size (px)” label in Footer Copyright panel to increase or decrease the text size. You will also be able to live preview to make your best judgment for what best suits your design and purpose.
You can choose to keep different font sizes for the desktop, tablet, and mobile. Simply click over the small gray color icon next to the label; it will expand it into three icons. First one is for the desktop font size, second for the tablet font size, and third for the mobile font size.
Change the Line Height for Footer Copyright
The line height for footer copyright gives you vertical space (y-axis) around the copyright text. You can either choose to increase or decrease the space around the copyright to suit your design and needs.
The line height can easily be changed under the “Line Height” label in Footer Copyright panel by using the given slider to make the changes.
You get the same three icons, as discussed above (under Font Size) for setting different line height for desktop, tablets, and mobile.
Change the Letter Spacing for Footer Copyright
As the name reflects, letter spacing lets you increase or decrease the space in between font letters for the Footer Copyright.
Simply use the slider under the “Letter Spacing (px)” label in Footer Copyright to make changes to the letter spacing.
